At 7:49 a.m. July 14, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 7700 block of Oliver Shop Road in La Plata for the report of a motor vehicle crash.

Investigation revealed a 1987 Volvo driven by Gary Lee Wynn, Jr., 19, of St. Leonard, was traveling south on Oliver Shop Road when the driver went off the right shoulder of the road.

The vehicle then swerved left, crossed the double yellow lines and struck a northbound 2002 Dodge Neon head on. Wynn and the driver of the Neon, Adrienne Lena Swann, 40, of Newburg, sustained incapacitating injuries and were transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center.

They were both wearing seatbelts, and their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Wynn received a citation for failing to stay right of center. Oliver Shop Road was closed for approximately 45 minutes while police investigated the crash.

Officer R. Glover, Jr., of the Traffic Operations Unit investigated.
