'An America United' moving forward, Hogan announced no presidential challenge in 2020

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan will not challenge President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

“I will not be a candidate,” Hogan Tweeted. He said he was thankful for “all of the encouragement.”

The Baltimore Sun reported that Hogan said that instead of running, he would start “An America United,” a national nonprofit advocacy organization.

Hogan was the hopeful candidate for the Never Trump Republicans. He said in February that he has no interest in a “kamikaze mission” in regards to Trump’s leadership and has openly criticized Trump’s presidency.

In a statement Saturday, Hogan said he wants to continue to honor the commitment he made to the people of Maryland where the parties work together to find “common-sense solutions to the serious problems facing our state.”

He also made mention of his new role as the incoming chairman of the National Governors Association.
