Maryland State Fire Chiefs Association endorses Larry Hogan

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Hogan for Governor today announced that the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association is proud to endorse Governor Larry Hogan’s re-election campaign. The governor announced this endorsement in Ocean City while addressing the Maryland State Firemen's Association convention. After the speech, Governor Hogan was inducted into the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Hall Of Fame.

“Governor Hogan has proven time and time again that he not only supports the priorities of Maryland’s firefighters but is willing to fight for them to get results,” said Paul Sullivan, President of the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association. “Our members know they have a friend in the governor’s office, someone they can count on to unwaveringly represent volunteer firefighters and all first responders. We are proud to endorse Governor Hogan for re-election – there is no one better to get the job done!”

During Governor Hogan’s first term, he has routinely worked to enact policies that are most important to firefighters and first responders, including signing into law legislation this year that increased state income tax relief for these individuals by 40 percent, as well as providing additional funds to the Widows and Orphans Fund. This past legislative session, the governor also signed into law an expansion of his Hometown Heroes Act, which exempts the first $15,000 of first responders’ retirement income from state taxes. Today’s endorsement of by the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association illustrates how the governor’s strong leadership on public safety issues has benefited Marylanders across the state.

“These extraordinary individuals regularly put their lives on the line for their neighbors and their communities and I could not be more honored to have their endorsement,” said Governor Hogan. “Our administration has and will always work to ensure their dedication and selfless service is both recognized and strongly supported. This endorsement represents the progress we have made enacting commonsense, bipartisan solutions to issues these brave men and women care about the most. I thank them for this endorsement and their service and look forward to working with and for them over the next four years.”

The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association was founded in 1946 to represent the volunteer and career officers of fire and emergency services. The association sponsors education and information for chief officers and represents their members on legislative and governmental issues.
