At about 7:00 a.m. on June 1, a motor vehicle accident was reported on the westbound side of Great Mills Road in front of Great Mills High School. Volunteers from Bay District Fire Department and Lexington Park Rescue Squad arrived and found a head on type collision.
Witnesses reported that the driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe was attempting to turn left into Lord Calvert Mobile Home Park from Great Mills Road eastbound, when he failed to yield the right of way to a Nissan Frontier. Due to the collision, traffic eastbound and westbound were affected getting onto Great Mills High School property.
One person was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital and crews cleared the scene in about an hour.
