Update: Driver identified in fatal crash

Update, June 28, 9:30 a.m.

On June 27, 2015, at 1:00 PM, deputies responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle crash on All Faith Church Road in the area of New Market Turner Rd. Deputies located a 1993 Dodge Dakota pickup truck off the roadway in the woods.  The operator and sole occupant of the truck, identified as Eden Elizabeth Elrod, 42 of Mechanicsville, was pronounced dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services personnel.

St. Mary’s County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.  The preliminary investigation indicated the truck was traveling northbound on All Faith Church Road. The driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn on the wet pavement and left the roadway.  The truck traveled over a guardrail and struck a tree. 

The investigation into this crash is ongoing. Speed is believed to be a factor in this crash. At this time, it is unknown if the driver was impaired by drugs and or alcohol. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call Deputy First Class Brandon Foor ID#235 at 301.475.4200 x 2265.

Mechanicsville, MD -- St. Mary's County emergency responders are on the scene of a fatal accident on All Faith Church Road in the Huntersville area of Mechanicsville. The accident was called in at 12:54 p.m. Saturday, June 27.The Bay Net reporter Ron Bailey on the scene reports the road is closed between the church and Golden Beach Road..
