Fest celebrates historic city, beer

St. Mary’s City, MD - The weather was perfect for strolling around the grounds of Historic St. Mary’s City and imbibing the tasteful refreshment known as beer. The Fifth annual Historic St. Mary’s City Beer Fest was held Saturday, June 20.

The event is organized by the Historic St. Mary’s City Foundation and is made possible with the support of four levels of sponsors, including its premier sponsor W.M. Davis Inc., over 30 vendors and an army of volunteers.

The six-hour event featured live entertainment by the 25th Hour Band, Driving Muzzy and Speakers of the House. Various demonstrations were held and tours of Vanswearingen—one of the American Colonies’ first taverns—were conducted.

There were also plenty of activities for children.

Event organizers offered special discount prices for designated drivers.

For the first time ever, a local hotel offered special discounts for Beer Fest visitors.
