At approximately 2 p.m. on June 4 , Officer J. Timko of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sears at 11170 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of a shoplifter in custody.
Investigation revealed Jeffrey James Chase, 45, of Laurel, removed a Kitchen Aid mixer and a Kenmore coffee maker from their packaging and attempted to leave the store with the items. Loss prevention personnel detained Chase until police arrived. Chase was charged on a criminal citation with theft less than $500 and released.
