Reopen St. Mary’s Group to Rally in Front of Blair’s Jewelry and Gifts, California, MD, May 23

Lexington Park, MD - Reopen St. Mary’s, a local group formed in response to COVID-19 governmental overreach, will hold a rally in front of Blair’s Jewelry and Gifts in California, MD from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

Reopen St. Mary’s previously launched an on-line petition: –

to encourage the St. Mary’s County Board of Commissioners and St. Mary’s County Health Officer, Dr. Meenakshi Brewster, “to end the lockdown of businesses, churches and citizens by authorizing the opening of all businesses and public facilities, while continuing to encourage citizens to take precautions necessary to maintain public health.”

“The rally is an opportunity for citizens to let their local officials know they are concerned about the prolonged shutdown’s negative effects on the community,” stated Deb Rey, Reopen St. Mary’s co-founder.  “We stand in support of all citizens who have been harmed by the government’s one-size-fits-all approach.”

Group members will be broadcasting in a live stream during the rally. Rally participants will be holding signs encouraging the safe reopening of the county and in support of facilities, organizations and businesses that have been shut down or whose operations have been curtailed by the Maryland governor’s executive orders.

Reopen St. Mary’s is a grassroots, nonpartisan group working to end the overly broad, economically and socially destructive shutdown policies that have injured countless St. Mary’s families and businesses and had a chilling effect upon civil liberties.
