MSP Leonardtown Barrack Troopers Conduct Traffic/Crime Saturation Patrol

LEONARDTOWN, MD - Troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack conducted a focused traffic and crime saturation patrol overnight in the county that resulted in three arrests and the issuance of more than five dozen traffic citations and warnings for multiple violations.

Led by the barrack commander, Lt. K. Rossignol, the saturation patrol on roads in and around the California and Lexington Park areas began last night at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 4 a.m. this morning.  The patrol times and areas were determined following a review of data that examined the frequency of impaired driving and similar serious traffic offenses.

During the initiative, troopers made 48 traffic stops.  As a result of those stops, they issued 31 traffic citations, 31 warnings and eight safety equipment repair orders.

Troopers arrested three individuals who were wanted on warrants.  They also issued four civil citations for the possession of less than ten grams of marijuana.

Similar focused initiatives will continue in the future.  Leonardtown Barrack troopers remain committed to working together with allied law enforcement and the community to help keep St. Mary's County safe.
