Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack DUI's, Warrants & Arrests

Prince Frederick, MD – The below incidents, investigations, and arrests are, in part, demonstrative of the Prince Frederick Barrack’s effort to ensure that Calvert County is a safe place to live, work, and visit. 

Warrant Service - On 4/18/2020, Senior Trooper McCombs responded to the Calvert County Detention Center to make contact with Paul Leroy Chew, who had an active warrant (FTA - Driving While Suspended) through the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack. Chew was located and served the warrant without incident.

DUI/CDS Arrest/Firearm Violation/Disabled Vehicle - On 04/18/2020, Trooper Moorman and Trooper First Class Rucker responded to the area of Route 4 and Cove Point Road, Lusby, for a disbabled vehicle. Once on scene probable cause search was conducted due to the smell of burnt marijuana and alcohol emitting from the vehicle. CDS-Marijuana was located in the vehicle as well as a loaded Glock 23 handgun. The driver was identified as William Albert Hairston Jr. Hariston was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI, CDS marijuana, and weapon violation. Hairston was transported to the Maryland State Police, Prince Fredercik Barrack for processing prior to being incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center. All CDS were packaged and processed at the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack.

Motor Vehicle Accident / Possession of Heroin - On 04/20/2020, Trooper First Class Palumbo responded to the area of Route 4 and Patuxent Point Parkway, Solomons, for the report of a single motor vehicle accident. Upon arriving onscene, Trooper First Class Palumbo made contact with the passenger, Antoine Dominique Brooks, 31, who sustained no apparent injuries due to the collision. Trooper First Class Palumbo observed CDS paraphernalia in plain sight and a probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in two syringes of suspected heroin as well as other paraphernalia. Brooks was issued Criminal Citations and released from the scene. Due to the injuries sustained by the driver, charges are pending at this time.
 

Traffic Stop/CDS Arrest/Firearm Seizure​- On 04/26/2020, Trooper Moorman conducted a routine traffic stop on Route 4, in the area of Chaney Road, Dunkirk, for traffic violations. A strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Trooper Moorman identified the driver as​Ernesto NMN Rodriguez (08/05/1988), 31, ​and was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. Rodriguez admitted that there was a firearm under his seat. A vehicle search was conducted on the vehicle, CDS- Marijuana was located in the vehicle and a 9mm Glock 19 firearm. Alocal and national check was conducted on the firearm, which came back as possibly stolen through Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in North Carolina. Contact was made with that Police Department and they were able to confirm that the 9mm Glock was in fact stolen. Latham was subsequently placed under arrest for CDS-marijuana, and possessing a stolen firearm. Rodriguez was transported to the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederck Barrack for processing prior to being incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center. All CDS and firearms were packaged and              processed at the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack.

Warrant Service / Gun Seizure - On 4/28/2020, multiple Troopers responded to the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack in reference to a subject with active warrant and possibly being in possession of a gun in the parking lot. Contact was made and the subject was identified as Joseph Allan Ramos, Jr. (9/29/96), who had responded to the Barrack to turn himself in for the active warrant (1st Degree Assault) that was issued against him the previous night. A 38 special caliber Smith and Wesson was located in the vehicle and seized due the Extreme Risk Protective Order (ERPO). Ramos was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where the warrant was served without incident.

Traffic Stop/ DUI/ Possession of CDS - On 4/29/2020, Trooper White conducted a traffic stop on Route 4, in the area of Chaney Road, Dunkirk, for traffic violations. As Trooper White made contact with the driver, he noticed the smell of alcohol and marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver was identified as Robert Donte King (6/14/83) and the passenger was identified as Taron Delaney Wilkes (7/13/87). When asked to exit the vehicle both King and Wilkes initially refused. Sargent Newman arrived on scene and was able to get both subjects to comply and exit the vehicle. King was put through field sobriety and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a large amount of suspected heroin in the trunk of the vehicle. A search of the driver and passenger yielded more suspected heroin as well as marijuana. Both King and Wilkes were placed under arrest and were transported to the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack, where they were charged accordingly and then taken to the Calvert County Detention Center. All CDS was packaged and stored at the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack.

2nd Degree Assault/ MDOP/ Threats of Arson - On 5/4/2020, Trooper Moorman, Trooper First Class Rucker, and Trooper First Class Matthews responded the wooded area located behind 143 Central Square Drive, Prince Frederick to make contact with Aaron Micheal Ballard who advised Wilford Alfred Fowler (08/20/64), hit him in the back with a baseball bat and burned his clothes. However, Fowler had fled on foot prior to our arrival, he was located by Deputy Childress (CCSO) and placed under arrest. Ballard was checked by the Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad and he refused to be transported. Witnesses on scene stated Fowler told them he was going to come back and burn them all to death, before fleeing the scene. Fowler was transported to Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly.
