A community mourns the loss of police officer, Davon McKenzie

LARGO, MD – The Prince George’s County Council is mourning the untimely passing of 24-year-old County Police Officer Davon McKenzie, tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident while off duty Tuesday evening.


“My heart breaks for this young officer, and his family, who was taken from us far too soon. Officer Davon McKenzie, who took the oath to protect and serve the citizens and residents of Prince George’s County more than two years ago, had a bright future ahead of him. I ask that God be with Officer McKenzie’s family and friends, the men and women of our police department, and the members of our community during this time of great sadness. My prayers and thoughts of love, and those of the Prince George’s County community are with each of them.” — County Executive, Angela Alsobrooks

The Prince George's County Council offers its prayers and deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. The Council extend its condolences to his fellow officers in the Prince George’s County Police Department as well.

The Council said that Officer McKenzie was committed to the public safety and residents. He served as a member of the Prince George’s County Police Department for two years.
