Dr. Lipoff: Wildewood Family Fun Day Benefit for Kids

Once again the businesses in the Wildewood Shopping Center have come together to bring the community their Family Fun Day Event on Saturday May 30th from 11am – 2pm.

In previous years they have given away lavish prizes and cash; raised money for charity and even the Bay District Fire Department and Sheriff Department.

This year will be slightly different. It will be split four ways at the event. They are raising money for Team Hudson, Team Alexx and Gabriel Sanchez; all deserving children and families that could use some cheer and financial help.

Foundation 4 Heroes will be the fourth recipient as they are a local nonprofit organization of heroes, princesses, mascots, etc. that travel to hospitals to support and inspire children and their families during these difficult times. They also speak to kids about finding the superhero inside of each one of them so they too can be a hero.

F4Heroes has already been involved with all three kids whether it was a hospital visit, offering a trip, fundraising, and more.

Additionally, the Southern Maryland Jeepers will be coming by that day and helping raise money for one of their own rider’s kids, while the other half will be split between the aforementioned kids and nonprofit organization.

There will be a superhero and princess costume contest with winners receiving $100 for 1st, $50 for 2nd and $25 for 3rd place. Attending the princess contest and other festivities, none-other than our very own Miss Maryland World, Syanne Centeno.

She started the Princess Warrior Initiative, a nonprofit that looks to lift the spirits of children with life-threatening diseases.

Foundation 4 Heroes is very excited to work with her and her organization because both nonprofits have an excellent mission focused on kids.

The first 100 registrants for contests will get a special registration bag with some cool stuff.

Simultaneously we will have a sidewalk chalk art contest that starts when you start drawing. Prizes $75 for 1st, $50 for 2nd and $25 for 3rd.

Bring your shorts and a towel because there will be a huge 18 foot-high Dolphin Water Slide. Also a monstrous Moon Bounce will be here for your bouncing pleasure.

How about getting some face-painting done by Kreative Kharacters, after you dry off, or have the Balloon Nerd make a cool balloon character for you?

The admittance for this event is $10 for your first kid and $5 for each after that. No DNA tests needed. We trust you. It is a charity event and doing the right thing for kids should come easily.

This bracelet will give you unlimited fun on the slide, moon bounce, face-painting and balloon art. It will also get you a dish of Yogurt at Yo Kool.

Yo Kool is our new organic yogurt shop and makes unbelievably good desserts and sandwiches. Check your registration bag for a cool coupon.

There will also be a Raffle for three overnight stays at either Country Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn at Solomons or Home 2 Suites by Hilton, you pick where; plus $20 gift cards to Outback Steakhouse, $20 Bob Evans Gift Card and more. Tickets are 1 for a $1, 6 for $5, 15 for $10. Need not be present to win.

If you get hungry we will have Meal Deal for you. A Chick fil-A sandwich, cookie, chips and water for just $5!! All proceeds from the food items will be divided evenly between the three kids and F4H.
