Church reaches out with fun and games

Lusby, MD -- Members of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Lusby have been active in community outreach since the congregation was established 13 years ago and especially since the new church opened four years ago. One example of that outreach is the annual Spring Fest, held this year on Saturday May 16 on the church parking lot on HG Trueman Road.

Spring Fest provides fun for the entire family but the special emphasis is on the kids. This year there were games of all types from the toilet paper toss to a moon bounce. But the kids also had the opportunity to have an educational interaction with volunteer firefighters from Solomons VFD and with a D.A.R.E. officer from Calvert County Sheriff’s Department.

The two-hour event was also filled with fitness, fun, music, model plane demonstrations and free hot dogs, chips and sodas.

Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church is located at 9463 HG Trueman Rd., Lusby (corner of HG Trueman and Rt. 4). For more information call 410-231-2075 or check their website at
