Ellynne en Pointe: Featured GOP Candidate -- Deb Rey

Deb Rey, candidate for Maryland House of Delegates from District 29B and this week’s “featured Republican candidate of the week.” has been mentioned in this column on many previous occasions. On May 22, she put out a press release, calling for a special session to override MD Gov. O’Malley’s veto of HB 1168 – the bill that would put a moratorium on wind turbines in Somerset County, MD until the Navy can complete an impact study currently being conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Deb says, “The mission and jobs at our Naval Air Station at Patuxent River are too important to not take this necessary action to protect them.”

Del. John Bohanan (D), who is currently representing District 29B, and who is a member of the Southern Maryland Delegation and is a leader in the Democratic Party, indicated taking other measures to stem the encroachment on the PAX River test range operations; he did not call for the special session to override O’Malley’s veto.

Ms. Rey went on to state: “If the majority party and its legislative leaders are not willing to go the distance and override this ill-advised veto, it is time we have Delegates and Senators who will.”

Thank you, Deb, for stepping up to the plate when the current elected official has not.
