Working House Fire Keeps Firefighters Busy

  • By

On Saturday, May 1 around 5:04 p.m., units from Second District, Bay District, and Leonardtown fire Departments were dispatched for a reported house fire. The fire was located at 43845 Tarrywyle Way in Valley Lee.

While the fire apparatus was responding fire board communications upgraded the assignment to a working fire bringing to the scene the Seventh District water supply unit and Lexington Park Rescue Squad. Original calls advised a light fixture on the structure was on fire.

The first unit from Second District arrived on the scene with a working house fire with fire through the roof. After a short time on the scene firefighters were pulled out of the structure due to a roof collapse. After the roof collapse command requested additional units to the scene for water, and manpower bringing Hollywood, and Ridge to the scene.

Units operated on the scene for just over three hours. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature according to the state fire marshal on the scene.
