Woman Killed in Crash with Commuter Bus

On May 4, at approximately 6:24 p.m., St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle collision on Three Notch Road and the northern entrance to Mervell Dean Road in Hollywood.

Investigation revealed a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Joan Mattingly Dean, 75 of Hollywood, was turning right off of Mervell Dean Road onto northbound Three Notch Road.  A second vehicle, a 2004 MCI Fleet Bus, driven by Angela Denise Adams, 41 of Laurel, was northbound on Three Notch Road.  The driver of the Impala failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of Bus, causing a collision between the two vehicles.

The driver of the Impala was transported to St. Mary Hospital and where she was later pronounced dead. The passenger in the Impala was also transported to St. Mary Hospital for her injuries. The bus was only occupied by the driver at the time of the collision and was also transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. 

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Team has assumed and is continuing the investigation.  At this time, there is no indication speed, alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the collision.  Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Deputy First Class Michael George at (301) 475-4200 ext. 2269. is on the scene of a serious accident on MD Route 235 and N. Mervell Dean Road that has involved a commuter bus and an automobile.

Route 235 is being closed in the northern direction while authorities continue their investigation into this serious crash. No word on how long the northbound lanes will be closed.
