Alcohol Possible Factor in Weekend Crash

Authorities in St. Mary's County are investigating a serious crash in California on May 21 shortly after 11 p.m. that left three injured.

Rescue crews responded to 22400 Block of Chancellors Run Road for the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival, crews discovered two vehicles involved to include a silver Ford Expedition and a maroon Hyundai SUV.

Investigation revealed the driver of the Hyundai crossed the center line into the path of the Ford Expedition causing the collision. The driver of the Hyundai appeared to be intoxicated according to witnesses on the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai was flown to Prince Georges Shock Trauma. Two additional patients in the Expedition were transported to St. Mary's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No word if any charges were made.

Authorities continue to investigate.
