Mark Your Calendars for "Health and Help Day"

Be sure to mark the date of Saturday, May 30 on your calendar, because you don't want to miss the “Health and Help Day” at the Nanjemoy Community Center, 4376 Port Tobacco Road.

The Charles County Commissioners will join with the First Baptist Church of Glenarden for an 'information fair'
specifically designed for the residents of the Nanjemoy area. The event hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Workshops will feature seasoned professionals who will give tips on job interview preparation, physical make-overs and how to dress for success. Residents can also receive computer training, job skill enhancements and assistance in resume writing.

“This is such a tremendous effort by the members of First Baptist of Glenarden,” said Commissioner Vice President Edith Patterson. “They come with the skills and expertise to work with the residents...and above all, they have a good reputation and people trust them.”

The outreach event will also offer health screenings, dental services and safety information.

Don't leave the children at home because there's plenty to do, including a puppet show and other fun activities. Residents can peruse the fine items in the Agape Closet, which will offer a variety of seasonal clothing and useful household goods.

For additional information, please contact the Nanjemoy Community Center at (301) 246-9612.
