Lights, costume, stage: Get involved in community theatre

The Newtowne Players are looking for volunteers to help out this summer at Three Notch Theatre for the production of Tennessee William's "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". We are looking for people interested in the set design and construction, a costumer, a prop master, stage crew and sound and light board operators.

"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is about a powerful Mississippi family, surrounded by circling vultures and greedy in-laws. The iconic characters of Maggie "the Cat," her alcoholic husband, Brick, and the bombastic patriarch, Big Daddy, maneuver through a sultry maze of avarice and hypocrisy. Each, in turn, is forced to confront ghosts from the past as well as uncertain futures while deceitful family members plot and scheme to secure their portion of the family fortune.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to start now with the rehearsal process, and continue throughout the summer until the show opens August 10th. The show runs three weekends at Three Notch Theatre in Lexington Park. If interested, please contact Wendy Heidrich at 301-475-8811 at Room with a Brew.

The Newtowne Players is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit community theatre run by volunteers.  For more information on volunteering, auditioning, sponsoring the theatre, information on upcoming events, or to reserve tickets, please visit our website at
