VIDEO: Ambulance Involved In Prince Frederick Accident; Road Closed, Helicopter Requested

UPDATE at 6:15 p.m. -- Clay Hammond Road and Lottie Fowler Road are expected to be closed for an additional three hours. Be advised to use caution in the area.

UPDATE: The ambulance was reported to have been running out on a call at the time of an accident.

UPDATE: A second helicopter has been requested for Medivac. SMECO arrived on the scene to secure power at approximately 3:56 p.m.

Crews estimate a 15 minute extrication time.

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. -- We are receiving reports of a road which has been closed in Prince Frederick as a result of a vehicle accident.

It has been indicated that one of the vehicles involved was a Prince Frederick Rescue Squad ambulance.

At approximately 3:25 p.m. on April 3, units were dispatched to the 1000 block of Clay Hammond Road in Prince Frederick. Traffic has been shut down in both directions. Be advised to use caution in the area.

Upon arrival, crews discovered downed power lines and vehicle fluids covering the roadway. The St. Leonard and Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Departments are also on the scene. Units were waiting for SMECO to secure the power before advancing to the vehicle.

A helicopter has been requested, but we do not have any other status of injuries on the scene.
