Calvert Sheriff's Office releases video of driver with a gun

UPDATE April 16

Sunderland, MD - On April 9 a lookout was broadcast for a possible intoxicated driver. Corporal Harms located the vehicle a short time later in the area of Route 2 and Dalrymple Road where he initiated a traffic stop. The driver, who was later identified as Dodanim Ninrod Aguirre, 32, immediately rolled up the windows of the vehicle, refusing to provide Harms with any identification. Aguirre was ordered several times to put down the window or open the door to no avail. Aguirre was subsequently removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed a HK P30 .40 caliber handgun containing 12 rounds in the magazine, as well as several empty beer cans. Aguirre was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with dangerous weapon- conceal, failure to obey a reasonable/lawful order, obstructing and hindering, loaded handgun on person, loaded handgun in vehicle, handgun on person, handgun in vehicle and several traffic citations for driving under the influence.

According to a court docket summary, all of the charges against Aguirre are misdemeanors. He posted $5,000 bond April 10 and a District Court hearing on the charges is tentatively set for May 10.

Prince Frederick, MD - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office released a video of a recent traffic stop arrest involving an allegedly intoxicated driver. The driver, who was uncooperative with deputies, was found to be in possession of a handgun. Here is the sheriff's office's account of the incident. The suspect's name has not been released at this time. 

"A citizen reported this drunk driver recently. Deputies located him a short time later and attempted a traffic stop. The driver parked the vehicle in the middle of roadway and refused to get out. He eventually moved it to the side of the roadway. He was observed attempting to get something out of the center console. Deputies were able to safely extract him from the vehicle. Inside of the console deputies located a handgun and several beer cans. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, concealed deadly weapon, failure to obey a lawful order  and hindering an Investigation."
