Culinary Infusion Most Successful to Date

  • By

The St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation hosted its third annual Culinary Infusion event on March 27, the most successful ever, raising more than $8,900 to benefit the Foundation’s scholarship fund and other hospital projects. These scholarships help train talented local students for careers in health care, nursing and allied health. In its ninth year, this unique program assists the hospital in recruiting and retaining highly qualified employees.

Participants experienced a sensational five-course meal crafted by chef Loic Jaffres at Leonardtown restaurant Café des Artistes, featuring some of Southern Maryland’s finest cuisine. These “gourmet enthusiasts” also had the chance to bid on unique items via a silent auction, such as a luxurious spa package donated by the Hair Company, a charter fishing boat trip donated by Mark and Bonnie Bowes, two sunset cruises with wine and cheese donated by Barry and Kelly Friedman, a golf round for four and lesson donated by Breton Bay Golf & Country Club, and a special catered in-home dinner for six, including wine, donated by Jaffres and his wife Karleen. The catered dinner auction item brought in the highest money amount.
A big “thank you” to the Jaffres, as well as Vijay Grover at Leonardtown Sunoco and Liquors, for donating wine for the event.
