Celebrating National Health Care Volunteer Week: SMH Auxiliary

  • By

In honor of National Health Care Volunteer Week, April 19-25, St. Mary’s Hospital would like to thank its Auxiliary for their extraordinary vision and generosity. This group raises funds for vital hospital improvements through many avenues, including bingo, luncheons, newborn photos, vending machines and, of course, the gift shop. In total, the Auxiliary has donated more than $4.3 million in gifts to the hospital since the 1970s.

Volunteers from the Auxiliary operate the gift shop, which carries a wide range of gifts, cards, balloons, flowers, snacks and reading materials. Stop by Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from noon to 3 p.m.
One special item on sale now is the Auxiliary’s cookbook, filled with recipes for all your favorite Southern Maryland goodies, as well as lots of other delicious offerings. Pick up your copy today for just $12.50 each. The cookbook also makes a special Mother’s Day gift.
To contact the shop or find out more about volunteering, please call (301) 475-6153. Volunteers and new Auxiliary members are always welcome. Download the membership application at
