Cuckoo For Coconuts - Pink Ones, Anyway

Chic has arrived in Southern Maryland. Take the unique women’s fashion and accessory boutique, The Pink Coconut. The small shop, located in Lusby in the Towne Square Center, specializes in clothing and accessories typically found in exclusive department stores.

“Because we are small, our prices are a lot less than in department stores, even though we carry the same designer labels and brands," Heather McDonald, one of the boutique’s owners stated.

She gave as an example The Pink Coconuts’ products – Lauren Conrad Collection (Lauren Conrad gained fame from the MTV show, The Hills).

“There is only one other boutique in the state of Maryland that carries [the Lauren Conrad line],” McDonald said.

In their fashion denim line, The Pink Coconut carries, 7 For All Man Kind and William Rast, designed by pop icon, Justin Timberlake. “Our prices are 20 to 30 percent less than anywhere else. And,” she added with a broad smile, “our customers use a whole lot less gas to get to the store!”

McDonald told The Bay Net that they have priced their merchandise to be in everyone's price range with prices ranging from $12-$200. “We have something for everyone,” said the enthusiastic entrepreneur.

McDonald went on to explain that The Pink Coconut also makes sure that local shoppers can find the very best in designer fashions and not worry about seeing someone else wearing the exact same outfit. “We only order a few of each new style so our customers can be sure they have one of he only one’s.”

The stylish boutique sells all sorts of fashion and accessories including: Capri’s, Bermuda shorts, swimsuits, designer jeans, tanks and tees along with a complete compliment of fashion accessories. The store offers designer jewelry, handbags, luggage, footwear, home gifts and décor items.

When asked about the current economy and how it has affected her business, McDonald indicated that she adjusted the normal fashion ordering and display cycle, which seems to be paying dividends for both her customers and for the store.

“We’re a new business, and as such, we have to be smart and hang in there. For the spring, we pushed back bringing in the new fashions until the weather warmed. Now our customers are ready for swimsuits, spring and summer fashions and they have been buying everything we have.”

McDonald admitted that there has been such a demand for swimsuits that she has had to order additional items to keep up with demand. She told The Bay Net, that customers should not worry about her store running out. “We take deliveries every day and make sure we have what our client’s need,” She said.
The chic boutique is open every day: Monday through Friday they are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
