Man shattered Window in a Burglary Attempt at The Post Office

At 3:04 am, on April 8, Charles County Sheriff’s Officer A. St. Germain responded to the Hughesville Post Office located at 15485 Prince Frederick Road for the report of a burglary.

A witness observed someone break into the post office and flee on a bicycle. The suspect was described as a black male wearing all black clothing.

Upon arrival, Officer St. Germain discovered a rear window had been shattered in a burglary attempt. Officer R. Brooks was en route to the post office when he saw a man matching the description of the suspect and stopped him.

The officer discovered the man had a brown work glove that matched a glove left at the scene. Clifton Jerome Goldring, 46, of Bryantown was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and destruction of property valued at less than $500.

He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
