The Charles County Commissioners recognized SmartSite, a Waldorf construction management and materials firm as the County’s “Entrepreneur of the Month” during their weekly meeting on March 2, 2010. Frank Duduk, Managing Partner, and Pat Hobbs, Operational Partner, were presented with a plaque and a proclamation to mark the honor.

SmartSite was founded in October of 2008, with offices in the St. Charles Industrial Park. The company specializes in green materials and practices for site development and construction. SmartSite’s largest client is American Community
Properties Trust (ACPT), the developer of St. Charles. ACPT recently announced and has begun implementing a plan to transform St. Charles into a green community. Duduk and Hobbs of SmartSite credit ACPT for providing their company and others like it with a proving ground and green infrastructure for showcasing and exploring emerging technologies in sustainable development.

“SmartSite, LLC’s materials and integrated delivery methods have helped St. Charles Communities improve the efficiency of our site development projects while also furthering our environmental goals,” said Mark MacFarland, Vice President - Land Development, American Community Property Trust. SmartSite is a member of the Maryland Green Registry and has a corporate philosophy to measure their performance based on impacts to people, the planet, and profitability.

“Our goal is a greener Charles County,” said Commissioner President Wayne Cooper. “We are pleased to see the on-going growth of companies like SmartSite in Charles County created by forward thinking entrepreneurs who see opportunity in supporting that goal.”
