Armed Man Holds Up KFC, Escapes on Foot

Shortly after 5 p.m. this evening, Friday March 16, an armed robber – a black male dressed all in black – entered the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Prince Frederick. At the time of the armed robbery there were approximately three customers inside the business.

The robber, armed with a gun stole an undisclosed amount of cash, then according to some eyewitnesses, holed himself up inside the bathroom. The business followed their policy of locking the entrance, and police initially believed they had a barricade situation.

“At first we were under the impression he had gone into the bathroom and secured the bathroom,” Sgt. M. Moore of Calvert Investigative Team told The Bay Net. “However he escaped on foot, probably through a side door,” said Moore.

The man did make off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The police will not release the details of amounts seized during a robbery so that there is privileged information only the culprit and police would know. This information is useful to ensure anyone who might confess really committed the crime, and also to hold a suspect to a confession they attempt to recant, Moore explained.

The K.F.C. is equipped with a security camera and police will be pulling the tape to observe the robbery and hopefully identify a suspect.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Solvers at 410-535-2880. Calls are confidential and a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

The Bay Net's Erin Abercrombie and Joshua Davis contributed to this report.
