Motorist Trapped in Callaway Crash Involving Dump Truck

At 12:50 p.m. this afternoon, Feb. 23, an accident involving possibly four vehicles, including a Great Mills Trading Post dump truck, occurred in Callaway.

The crash occurred on Piney Point Road, in front of Abel’s Tavern. One person was trapped inside their vehicle and had to be extricated by police and rescue personnel.

That person has now been transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for emergency medical treatment, although they are thought to be in a stable condition. The accident was called in as being very serious, but helicopter was not needed.

Five people were involved in the vehicles, three refused treatment and two were transported in ambulances.

Responding teams cleared the scene of the accident, near Callaway Post Office, within an hour.
