Another Crash Outside Spring Ridge Middle School

Shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday another crash occurred near Spring Ridge Middle School, less than a week after a three car wreck a half mile away on the same stretch of road.

Today's accident involved a motorcycle driven by a 53-year-old man, which struck the rear of a trailer and crashed near the school.

The driver lost consciousness but regained it while police and emergency responders were on the scene. He was alert and breathing ten minutes after the crash, but told officers he had no recollection of the accident.

Apparently the rider struck the back of a trailer in tow and fell from the motorcycle.

The man suffered a head trauma, and obvious facial injuries as well as severe neck and back injuries.

Police shut down both direction of traffic at the scene on Three Notch Road/ Rt. 235.

A State police helicopter landed at about 3:30 pm to transport the injured rider to Prince George's trauma center.

Fire fighters and rescue personnel tend to the rider before loading him in an ambulance. Below a crowd gathers, and a rescue volunteer holds up a sheet to block the view of the fallen man. -- The Bay Net photos by Sean Rice
A rescue squad member brings a bag of the rider's property found at the scene to the awaiting Maryland State Police helicopter that transported the man.
