Upper Marlboro, MD – February 4, 2020 – A Prince George’s County woman’s appetite helped her make her best Maryland Lottery purchasing decision to date. The hungry player decided not to go where she normally plays her favorite games. Instead, she visited a nearby Lottery retailer that also sold food.

Our happy winner left with a full belly and full pockets after scoring a $30,000 win on a Peppermint Payout Multiplier scratch-off.

The 48-year-old visited Royal Farms #166 in Upper Marlboro on Friday evening. She went to the Lottery kiosk to play her usual Pick 3/Pick 4 numbers. This left the Upper Marlboro resident with $6 in change. Instead of pocketing her cash, she decided to buy two $3 scratch-offs.

The lucky woman wasted no time learning the outcome of her purchase. She scanned the instant tickets, finding no luck with the first scratch-off. A scan of the prize check area on the second instant ticket turned up the message: “See lottery.” At that point, she knew she won.

“I wanted to scream in the store,” the woman said, but she decided to keep quiet to avoid attention. She then called her best friend and very quietly told her about the top-prize win. When asked of her plans for her prize, the winner said she would use it to pay off debt.

Her lucky Lottery retailer also benefits from this win. The store located at 1700 Sansbury Road in Prince George’s County will receive a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $30,000 top-prize winner.

This game launched last October. There are still two more $30,000 top prizes remaining on this peppermint-scented instant ticket along with thousands of others.
