How you can help fight against one tough cancer

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is leading the offensive against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

AML causes more than 10,000 deaths in the U.S. each year. For decades, researchers have searched for a cure. But AML is so complex and so acute, it has defied potential therapies – even when other blood cancers have seen remarkable leaps forward.

As a result, for more than 40 years, treatments have remained the same.

For the first time, we have the knowledge, technology and therapies to revolutionize how we study, test, and treat AML. Genetic sequencing and big data technologies now enable us to quickly learn about the many types of AML and how they work.

With these insights, LLS and its partners are taking a fresh look at potential therapies and testing them against the many types of AML. Discoveries we make offer new hope for better treatments for AML patients.

With today’s therapies, only one in four AML patients survives five years beyond diagnosis.

The need is clear: better treatments for AML patients.

Undertaking an unprecedented offensive against AML requires the leadership of a patient-focused, trusted expert in AML. Patients, physicians, researchers, companies and regulators agree: that leader is LLS.

Together, we offer hope to AML patients and their families. Each discovery we make takes us one step closer to a cure for AML – and for other cancers.

Genetic Study
This groundbreaking study draws on 900 patient samples to advance our understanding of AML.

Master Trial
In October 2016, LLS launched a paradigm-shifting clinical trial to test multiple therapies against multiple types of AML at multiple research institutions. Promising treatments will be fast-tracked for development and approval, ensuring that they get into the hands of patients as soon as possible.

LLS-funded research continually works to answer the next questions and to find the next therapies. To date, LLS has helped develop more than 40 potential therapies for AML.

Patient Support
LLS ensures patients have access to the best available therapies, services, and support.
Together, we will make someday today.

You can support LLS at the first annual Fly4ACure Kite Festival at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds on March 17.
