Design your new home the way you want it

California, MD- It’s quite clear when you drive around St. Mary’s County, the region is growing. You’ll find new stores, restaurants and many new home builders.

The Woods at Myrtle Point is one of those new neighborhoods. Situated along Patuxent Beach Road off of Route 4, Myrtle Point is quite popular among homeowners who want a custom home.

The community is surrounded by woods, adding a private feel, but still close to many amenities. “Our sites are an average of a third of an acre,” Lisa Riggleman, sales manager, explained. “But we have a wonderful wooded buffer so our homeowners can enjoy the space without having to maintain it.”

For nearly 10 years, the community has been growing, with no signs of stopping. However, if you’re looking to call Myrtle Point home and had hopes of building your custom, single family home, you’re running out of time.  There are only a dozen sites still available for purchase.

There are many perks that pique the interest of future homeowners, including natural gas heat, closing cost assistance, low HOA (homeowners' association) fees and the proximity to NAS Patuxent River, Solomons Island and major shopping. “Plus, we’re right up the road from Myrtle Point State Park which offers hiking trails and beach access,” Riggleman noted.

If that doesn’t sound enticing, Myrtle Point will be building a new clubhouse and pool starting this summer, which will be exclusively for residents. There will also be a storage area for boats and RVs.

“One of the things our buyers love the most is the flexibility they have when customizing a home,” Riggleman said. “Our builders will work with you to make sure you’re getting the exact home you want.”

In addition to the multiple floor plans available in the development, there are two lots still available for rambler-style homes, which are difficult to find.

“The best part about this community are the wonderful people who live here,” said Riggleman. “We have all age groups and a very diverse group. I call it the ‘League of Nations’ because we have people from all over living here.”

Riggleman also said most of their business comes from referrals. “About 75 percent of our business is word of mouth. People like the option of not only choosing their home but their neighbors, as well.”

In the coming months, Curtis Homes will also begin development on townhouses and condominiums. The new townhouses will also offer option elevators inside the units. When development is complete, there will be about 350 units throughout the entire community.

Prices for single family homes in The Woods at Myrtle Point start in the upper $300’s.
