Detectives assigned to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division have charged Javon Antonio Washington, 19, of Waldorf, in connection with a strong-arm robbery and an unrelated attempt theft of a fast food delivery employee that occurred on February 5.

The first incident occurred at 6:30 p.m., when the victim, who just made a purchase at an area liquor store, was robbed by a group of males as he was walking in the 11800 block of Homestead Place. The suspects assaulted the victim and stole the items he just purchased.

The second incident occurred at 7:09 p.m. when an employee of a carry out restaurant was called to deliver food to a residence on Meadow Lane. When he arrived at the house, the residents said they did not order the food. The driver began walking back to his car when two males approached and demanded the food. The driver fled and called police.

Detectives responded, located the men and subsequently identified Washington as a suspect. Further investigation revealed Washington was in possession of some of the property which was stolen during the earlier robbery.

Washington was arrested and charged with robbery and attempt theft. Detectives are continuing their investigation.
