Vehicle Strikes Local School Causing Damage to Structure

On Wednesday, Feb. 17 at approximately 6 p.m., the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad responded to Calverton School in Huntingtown for a report indicating that a vehicle had struck and damaged the building.

Once the Squad arrived on the scene, they found structural damage to the school caused by a vehicle that had been moved from the area of the damage. There were no injuries to anyone in the car or building.

The Calvert County building inspector was requested to the scene to evaluate the damage done. In addition to the structural damage, the impact of the accident caused a water line to break and water was leaking into an adjacent classroom.

Emergency units remained available at the scene and the area was taped off for safety reasons.

The building inspection report and final evaluation has not been released at this time.
