"Sound The Alarm" Campaign Proves Very Successful in Nanjemoy

Nanjemoy, MD - January 5, 2020 - The Southern Md. Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Charles County Volunteer Fire & EMS Associations rallied to "Sound the Alarm" against home fires yesterday morning.

During yesterday's "Sound the Alarm" event in the Nanjemoy neighborhoods, volunteer fire members and American Red Cross teams went door-to-door installing 167 free smoke alarms and helped families create home fire escape plans.

We want to thank Chief Kelly Crouse, CCVFA Fire Prevention Officer JW King, Chrissy King and ARC Joe Hurst for coordinating this lifesaving's community event. A total of 25 volunteers spent their Saturday doing everything they could to make Nanjamoy "fire safe".

In addition, we want to thank the wonderful ladies auxiliary at Nanjemoy for the delicious lunch provided after the days efforts.

For further information contact fireprevention@ccvfireems.org or check us out on social media: www.ccvfireems.org

We are planning to continue this effort through Nanjemoy a few more times to cover the entire area before continuing into other communities....

Since 2014, through Sound the Alarm, the Red Cross and partners have saved more than 650 lives, made more than 822,000 homes safer and installed more than 1.9 million free smoke alarms.
