Calvert woman gets sentence for rape, sex abuse of minor

Prince Frederick, MD – A Calvert County woman was sentenced Jan. 9 to a total of 35 years in jail for her role in the alleged rape and sexual abuse of a minor child, court documents stated. The sentence for Aimee Beth Warhurst, 36 of Chesapeake Beach (pictured) was handed down by Calvert County Circuit Court Judge Marjorie Clagett.

According to court records, Clagett suspended all but 12 years of the sentence, ordered that Warhurst serve five years of supervised probation and recommended the jail time be served at Patuxent Institute.

Warhurst was charged with 10 separate counts related to the incidents, which allegedly occurred between 2008 and 2013. Her late husband, John Grady Warhurst, was also facing charges. Both were charged in November 2013 following an investigation by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Team. After his arrest in November 2013 for 16 counts of sex offenses involving the minor, John Warhurst was suspended from the Prince George’s County Police Department. He later committed suicide.

Aimee Warhurst entered guilty pleas to one count each of second-degree rape and sex abuse (of a) minor Oct. 17. She was represented at the Jan. 9 hearing by attorney Thomas C. Mooney.

The case against Warhurst was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Kathryn Marsh.
