The Greene Turtle-La Plata and March of Dimes recently teamed up for a fundraising event held at the local sports bar and grille.

The event, better known as “Funds for Friends”, took place last Tuesday and raised $400 for March of Dimes through a combination of the program and a 50/50 raffle.

They also recruit members, friends and family of their organization to attend to make each day-long event a fantastic experience to raise these funds.

In return, The Greene Turtle donates 10 percent of the entire day’s receipts to the specific organization. The event featured a March of Dimes display table, a 50/50 raffle and a 2008 March for Babies picture slide-show on many of the restaurants 40+ TVs.

The pictures, donated by HD Photography, featured snapshots of this past April’s Charles County March for Babies which took place in La Plata on April 27.

The Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille has been an area tradition since opening in Ocean City in 1976. They host similar fundraising events for local charitable and non-profit organizations at their other 18 locations in Maryland, Delaware and D.C.
