In the early morning hours of July 13, St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations detectives charged Alverio Dominguez, 24 with no fixed address, with second-degree rape and second-degree assault.

The arrest came as a result of an investigation into a rape which occurred on July 12 at approximately 10 p.m. in Lexington Park. Detectives determined that the suspect, who was unfamiliar to the victim or anyone else at the home, saw a social gathering outside of the 23 year old victim’s residence and walked over to the yard to participate.

He entered the victim’s bedroom after she left the gathering to go to sleep and assaulted her. He fled to a nearby residence when another person at the home heard the victim calling for help and attempted to enter the locked bedroom.

Deputies located Dominguez hiding under a bed and took him into custody.

The victim was treated at St. Mary’s Hospital. Dominguez, who is an illegal alien, was incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
