Man Tries Out For Sprinting Team at Traffic Stop

At 11:18 p.m. May 22, Charles County Sheriff’s Officer DeBoe attempted to stop a Mazda minivan in the 4300 block of Hawthorne Road in Indian Head for failing to stay in its lane.

The driver of the minivan refused to stop until he reached the 5400 block of Stuckey Road, where he stopped the minivan and fled on foot. He was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.

The driver was identified as Marvin Leo Carroll, 26, of Indian Head and officers determined he was intoxicated and did not have a driver’s license. He was charged with fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, failure to stay within his lane and speeding. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
