Guy Gets Sex Offense Charges for Creepy Touching

At 10:43 p.m. May 25, St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy Stone responded to a residence in St. Inigoes for the report of a Sex Offense.

Investigation by Dep. Stone revealed a 20-year old female, a 15-year-old Juvenile and suspect Van Dee Burchfield, 42, of St. Inigoes were consuming alcoholic beverages inside a residence.

The suspect began touching the victims inappropriately and was told to stop.  The suspect continued to place his hands on various private areas of the victim’s bodies.

A family member of the victim’s observed the actions of the suspect and intervened.  Burchfield was placed under arrest, charged with two counts of Fourth Degree Sex Offense and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

The Juvenile was issued a Juvenile Alcohol Citation and released to the custody of a family member.
