Troopers Hand Out 23 DWIs, 12 Drug Arrests and More for Memorial Day

During the Memorial Day Weekend May 23-26, The Maryland State Police, La Plata Barrack Troopers took a proactive approach to reduce crimes and traffic related collisions in Charles County.

The Memorial Day weekend began on May 23, at 0700 hours with an initiative dubbed “All Troops 10-8” (10-8 is the 10 code for In Service).  Every Trooper assigned to the La Plata Barrack worked in three different shifts throughout the day.

During the 24 hour initiative the Troopers issued 175 Citations, 100 Warnings, 20 Safety Equipment Repair Orders and stopped more than 190 vehicles.  In addition, Troopers arrested 10 persons for DUI, 1 person for stolen tags, one person for stolen vehicle, one person for Theft Under $500, 4 persons for Drug Violations and 3 person for Warrant Arrests.

During the holiday weekend the Troopers amassed 300 Citations, 140 Warnings, 31 Safety Equipment Repair Orders and stopped 327 vehicles.  A total of 13 persons were arrested for DUI, 4 Criminal Arrests were made, 8 Drug Arrests were made and 8 persons were arrested for warrants.

Most importantly there were no Fatal Collisions.
