Bluegrass in the Park Fest on the Way

The Brandywine Lions Club will hold its seventh Annual Bluegrass in the Park on Saturday May 24. The event will begin at 1 pm and run until 8 pm rain or shine. Along with the Bluegrass Music Festival they will also have a Bull Roast and a Classic Car Display. Bluegrass music will include: • ERNIE BRADLEY & GRASSY RIDGE o Considered by many as the finest, Traditional Bluegrass Band around o Over 30 years of experience o Toured with the Nashville Opry Road Show, Charlie Daniels Band • JAY ARMSWORTHY & EASTERN TRADITION o Hard-driving traditional Southern Maryland bluegrass music o Sweet harmonies, exciting instrumentals, classic country ballads, and gospel songs featuring Jay Armsworthy; Tom Gray; Marc Bolen; & Mike Phipps o Have played countless fairs, festivals, community and private functions throughout the Eastern United States. • VIRGINIA RAMBLERS o From Albemarle County, Central Virginia o Have performed on “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor, the Grass Valley, California Festival, and at festivals throughout Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware and Maryland o The Real Thing, lifted straight out the golden age of bluegrass with fire, edge, and intensity • THE SCOTT BRANNON BAND o Traditional Bluegrass Music from Martinsburg, West VA. o Guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bass, and banjo o Good traditional and smooth Bluegrass music. Join our M.C. RAY DAVIS from WAMU Radio in Washington, DC to introduce the bands and making sure that each band is heard loud and clear is one of the finest Sound Company’s around, TROY JONES of Hollywood, Maryland. Food concessions will be available on the field. We’re sorry, but no pets or coolers please. There will be security on duty during the event. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs. There is also a covered pavilion on the property. Therefore the event will be rain or shine. The Brandywine Lions Club Park is located at U. S. RT 301 and Cherrytree Crossing Road in Cheltenham, Maryland. Just across the road from the Veterans Cemetery. Advanced tickets are available Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm at the Waldorf Motel located on US Rt. 301 South, at the Good Deale Bluegrass Shop in Deale, MD, or by mail from the Brandywine Lions Club, PO Box 250, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
