CHARLOTTE HALL - 5/2/2008

St. Mary's County Sheriff’s detectives raided ADF Bingo hall in Charlotte Hall and seized illegal bingo machines that have been determined illegal slot machines by state officials.

The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations Vice-Narcotics team, headed by Lt. Daniel Alioto, seized the machines Thursday.

The raid follows the launch of an investigation in March to determine whether video bingo terminals are illegal. Slots have not yet been legalized in Maryland.

Sheriff Office officials say when Sheriff Tim Cameron asked establishments in the county that run the machines for local charities to remove the illegal machines after a extensive investigation, everyone complied, except ADF Bingo Hall. The Annapolis field office of the FBI assisted in executing the search and seizure warrant.

More details on the way.
