Man Charged with Sex Offense Against Autism Patient

 Members of the St. Mary's Bureau of Criminal Investigations conducted a sex offense investigation on March 31.

 Police investigation revealed Suspect Steven Wayne Goldsmith 18, of Mechanicsville, committed a sex offense against a victim who suffers from Autism.

 Goldsmith was apprehended and taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was awaiting a bond review by the District Court Commissioner.


 

Convicted Sex Offender Arrested for Notification Failure

On March 27, BCI detectives located Suspect Jason Emmerson Staley 28, a convicted sex offender who had failed to notify this agency of a change of address.

 Staley of Lexington Park was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with one count of failing to notify the registry of an address change.
