K9 Team Stops Fleeing Pot Smoker During Raid

 Members of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office’s Community Policing (COPS) Unit, Emergency Services Team and K9 Unit served a search warrant at a residence in the 2700 block of Marlette Place in Waldorf at 6:21 a.m. March 7.

 The search warrant was the result of a drug investigation being conducted by the COPS Unit. Officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the home and arrested the resident, Kiona Sharreka Savoy, 24.

 Shaquone Anthony Johnson, 19, of Waldorf, who was also at the residence, was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well and was subsequently arrested.

 He had attempted to flee the residence through a back door when officers arrived at the residence but he was quickly apprehended by a K9 team.

 Savoy was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Johnson was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending appearances before a district court commissioner. The recovered marijuana has an estimated street value of $300.
