The March of Dimes and Liberty Tax Service are calling on southern Maryland residents to break out their dancing shoes and grooviest moves, all to help every baby be born healthy. Funds raised through these activities will be donated to the March of Dimes March for Babies. Formerly known as WalkAmerica, March for Babies is the March of Dimes largest fundraising event that benefits all babies – those born healthy as well as those who need help to survive and thrive. During the week of March 3 – 7, Liberty Tax Service is holding the March of Dimes Free Tax Return Program in which southern Maryland residents can visit any Liberty Tax Service location and have their tax preparation fees waived in exchange for a donation to the March of Dimes.( $25 minimum). On Saturday, April 5th, Liberty Tax Service will host “roadside parties” featuring food, fun and entertainment, as well as a chance to dance with Lady Liberty and enter the video of their dance in the Liberty Dance for Babies Contest. The Contest is an online fundraising activity that invites people to upload videos and pictures of themselves or their children dancing onto the LibertyDanceForBabies.com web site. Roadside parties will take place in over 2,700 Liberty Tax locations nationwide. “I can’t wait to join in the fun at the roadside party, cut a rug with Lady Liberty and help more babies come into the world healthy,” said Jennifer Abell, March of Dimes Community Director. “This is our first year with Liberty Tax Service as a partner and national sponsor of March for Babies, and we are excited about all the ways they’re generating support for the March of Dimes.” “Liberty Tax is joining efforts coast-to-coast as a national sponsor. We are excited about supporting all the worthwhile programs of the March of Dimes through the March for Babies and other fundraising events,” said John Hewitt, CEO of Liberty Tax Service. In Charles County, March for Babies will take place at 9 a.m. April 27 at the Charles County Government Building and in Calvert County on May 4 at the Solomon’s Island gazebo. Southern Maryland residents can sign up today to help fund lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy babies. “It’s easy to join the March for Babies,” added Abell. “Just visit marchforbabies.org or call toll-free 1-800-525-9255 to sign up or to donate to help babies be born healthy.” The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies.
