15-Year-Old Charged with 'Hate Crime'

At 2:40 p.m. Feb. 21, Charles County Sheriff’s Cpl. C. Black charged a 15-year-old Waldorf boy for a hate crime that occurred at Stethem Educational Center located at 7775 Marshalls Corner Road in Pomfret. The investigation began on Jan. 29 when a school employee discovered a swastika and a religiously offensive statement had been written in marker on a bathroom wall. The boy, a student at the school, was identified as the suspect and charged with a hate crime and destruction of property valued at less than $500. He was charged as a juvenile and was released to a guardian. |
