At 11:37 a.m. Jan. 7, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s office was notified of an incident involving fireworks in the cafeteria at Lackey High School, Indian Head. Responding Deputy Fire Marshal John Nelson reports two male students, 15 and 17 years old, set off fireworks in the lunchroom, and were found with more fireworks, including a device they constructed using a plastic bottle and fireworks. The boys were released from the custody of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office to their parents, pending further action by the Department of Juvenile Services. On Thursday, the teens were charged with manufacturing and possession of a destructive device. There were no injuries or damage at the school. |
