Located in the heart of Prince Frederick, the 2-year old CalvART Gallery has brought to the community a wide variety of new art, education, art appreciation, excitement, and collaboration with other local groups.

Last Sunday, CalvART artists presented a collection of over 50 pieces of wooden sculpture, photography, pottery, jewelry and paintings at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory's (CBL) annual open house in Solomon’s Island.

CBL Director, Margaret Palmer, said "We hope the two organizations will continue to work together in the future.

The mutual interests of scientists and artists are a huge benefit to life and education in our community."

Through mid-October the 26-member gallery is featuring a large exhibit entitled The Wonders of Our Waters, in cooperation with the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory in Solomons Island.

To heighten interest in the water theme, the gallery members created over 100 decorated yellow rubber duckies to promote the show and bring a chuckle to art fanciers in Southern Maryland. The ducks will remain on display and for sale in the gallery through November.

The gallery has a special commitment to the community and encourages artists throughout the region. Local artists of all ages are invited to explore opportunities with CalvART Gallery, as members of the cooperative group, or annually in the Community Art Show.
