One Flown After SUV Flips in St. James

A woman was flown to a trauma center after a single-vehicle crash on Mattapany Road at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. Volunteer firefighters and rescue squad members arrived minutes after the crash to find a Honda SUV had gone off the side of the road, and appeared to have overturned once. After being treated by medical personnel, one occupant was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulance with incapacitating injuries. A female patient sustained a head injury and lost consciousness. She was treated one the scene and then flown to Prince Georges Hospital by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7. The victim was transported from the scene to the intersection of Mattapany Road and Route 235, where the helicopter landed in a field. See slideshow below for images from the scene |
